Frame.io vs Pixieset: which one, and when.
Frame.io is for getting notes on a cut. Pixieset is for delivering photos and selling prints. They answer different halves of a job.
Free up to 5 GB. No card. Read on each one’s own pages on October 29, 2026.
The short answer.
Pick Frame.io when the work is a film in review. Your client leaves comments at a timecode with no account, editors on your team comment beside them, and the comments export to Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Media Composer. It reviews photos too. It is priced for each member: Pro is $15 a month a member.
Pick Pixieset when the work is finished photos. Your client picks favorites and leaves editing notes on each photo, and you can sell prints from the gallery with no commission on a paid plan. Video is sold by the hour (30 minutes on the $10 Basic plan), and videos can’t be added to a favorites list, so your client has no way to leave a note on a film.
Side by side, with a third option.
Plenty of studios pay for both, because the same client gets a cut to review and a gallery of stills. If that is your job, here is where DropYourFiles sits beside them: the film and the photos on one link, notes on both, and approval that opens the downloads.

Questions.
Is Frame.io good for photographers?
It reviews images, camera RAW included, with comments, and it is priced for each member. It has no print store on its pricing page. Photographers who sell prints usually deliver through a photo gallery.
Can Pixieset deliver video?
Yes, by the hour: 30 minutes on Basic up to 5 hours on Ultimate, and $5 a month for each extra hour. Your client can’t add a video to favorites, so there are no notes on a film.
Do I need both Frame.io and Pixieset?
If you sell prints and review films with editors, both do their half well. If your job is a film and stills going to the same client, one link that takes notes on both and opens the downloads on approval does the whole job.
